John,
I would recommend dipping in nice clean cappings wax at about 160 F, give or take. You can have the wax floating in the water and it's ok to have the frame dip down into the water underneath the wax. When you pull it out, give it a tap to shake off excess wax into some kind of container. Wear old clothes. Put a tarp on the ground. A bit messy.
I recommend nice wax to reduce the amount of contaminants back into the comb (read miticides).
You could use a big fish/turkey pot on a propane burner.
The bees really pull it nice when it's thicker.
You can get the bees to pull even in the high 50's if you have a big cluster and feed thin syrup nonstop, but it's much better in the 60's F and up.
We are too busy to dip and just buy them waxed, but will dip if the waxworms catch us off guard in Florida and strip the wax off completely. Michigan (45th parallel) is just too cold generally to get much wax moth problems, unless we store large amounts of dark brood comb inside and only in some years.
