When my bee yard was tested for tracheal mites two summers ago (a university run test), my entire yard tested 0 for the presence of tracheal mites.  Had all the other junk, but no tracheal mites.  And, I had done no treating for mites of any kind, or for SHB.  I have no explanation for why mites were not present.
