Hi Jack:

I have been using a 3/4" ball valve for bottling. It has a stainless steel
ball and a plated brass body. My recollection is that it cost about $10 US.

It drips less than my purpose made " dripless " valve. If you are filling
large pails, it might be better to use a 1" valve.
