The selection process has to be continuous.  You are constantly fighting
polyandrous mating, and a high rate of recombination.  This has been an
issue with VSH or hygienic traits - constant selective pressure has to be
applied for success. His work on the genetics behind pollen hoarding are
interesting

Ernesto Guzman put together this book for the OBA. I think it's a good
place to start:
