Bonjour Andre:

I have, on a few occasions, seen a drop of tar fall from the smoker into the
hive being smoked. The tar from incomplete combustion of plant materials
contains phenol, as well as a lot of other undesirable chemicals. Beekeepers
should make an effort not to hold the smoker over the hive, but rather waft
the smoke over the hive from the side or rear.

                                    Best regards
