Was wondering if you might get better separation of mites from bees if you had a container with two lids, one at each end of the container, and then had a separator screen situated in the middle of the container.  That would allow the bees to be agitated and still allow plenty of room for the mites to fall through the filtering screed during the agitation process.  Might allow for greater separation of mites from bees in the process, not have as many mites hung up in the mass of bees at the end of the agitation period.  Then you could open the lid at the bottom, release the alcohol, and have the mites settle on the bottom of the lid, or even have a fine filter to catch the mites between the lid and the container to catch the mites.
