The only "point" I can recall (and the root cause of all the gnashing of
teeth and rending of garments) was a reference that Dee Lusby made to an ABJ
article about residues in beeswax. Correct?

There was an inquiry about the possibility of chemicals in capping wax.
Nobody has given any evidence of residues in capping wax. I showed a long
term study that found 5 parts per billion coumaphos in honey. This is either
a great problem or a great relief, depending on your point of view.
