That is happening. Even if you find a bee that can tolerate Varroa, how
does it tolerate it? In like manner, what mechanism in the mite leads to
Apistan tolerance?

Both are issues that, if solved, will lead to effective solutions for
Varroa, genetic or chemical.

It took a while to find out the whys of smallpox vaccinations with
cowpox, even though we knew it worked. Once that was learned, it opened
up a whole new world that led to other effective treatments of disease.
