Hello Dick & All,
I am trying to take pictures and document the drought. many unusual insect
sights.

Farmers are scared to combine in many areas for fear of starting fires.

The only bright point has been bees working soybeans. Commercial beekeepers
have moved bees on to soybeans but know the chemical companies are saying to
get maximum yield you need to control spider mites. BS this late in the
season but they are pushing three spider mite sprays. Applied by crop duster
(most likely) and if like last year against label in daylight. Toxic to bees
working beans.

Roundup is not working on Johnson grass and a couple other weeds so the
chemical companies are pushing herbicide sprays. Daylight and drifting on to
plants bees are working.

We are pulling supers next week from bees in areas of soybeans and moving
hives as soon as possible. Nice light honey and has really helped the bees.

Trying to survive around agriculture monocultures is very hard for bees and
beekeepers.

Trying to get those responsible for bee kills to accept responsibility is
almost (if not) impossible.
