There is some work being started up on bumblebees in the U.S.

Just last week the USDA Bee Lab in Logan, UT put an announcement out
looking for a scientist to work on bumblebees. From the announcement
(ARS-X6W-0042) it states:

“RESEARCH ENTOMOLOGIST to be responsible for a broad area of research on the
population dynamics and management of bumblebees to improve the pollination
of commercial crops of blueberries, small fruits, and greenhouse tomatoes,
and to evaluate wild bumblebee decline in the U.S.”
