It could also be "Nosema apis and/or Nosema ceranae + X = CCD". That was 
one of the suppositions given to me since it fits with "Tracheal + 
Nosema = massive bee kill" which was observed in Maine many years back. 
So the X could be any stress factor like mites, drought, etc., but the 
underlying requirement is Nosema.
