At the Sue Bee website, they have bee "facts" including:

The term "honey moon" originated with the Norse practice of consuming
large quantities of mead during the first month of a marriage.

* * *

According to Oxford English Dictionary, the term in English goes back
to 1546, and it is:

'The first month after marriage, when there is nothing but tenderness
and pleasure' (Johnson);

originally having no reference to the period of a month, but comparing
the mutual affection of newly-married persons to the changing moon
which is no sooner full than it begins to wane.

Do any of you honey lovers out there have more information about honey
moon beyond this?
