I just experienced my first after-swarms. I located the unmarked, young queens after hiving the swarms.

My question is: are after-swarm virgins ready to mate as soon as the swarms settle in a new home? I am thinking that if a virgin is mature enough to fly, it's mature enough to mate. Is this right or do they need a few extra days?

Thanks,

Waldemar
