Yes, at that distance it's difficult to tell.  When I enlarge the photo,
the two mites on the thoraces in the center clearly stand out, but I'm not
seeing any clear evidence of crystals on the bees.

This is getting interesting--I plan to soon start taking some close-up
photos myself.
