Planning is a human cogitative process. To assert that bees plan or do not
plan and are simply instinctual animals are both examples of idle thinking.
Unless you can think like a bee all discussions about planning on the part of
a honeybee is anthropomorphic. If anyone gains comfort or practical value
from believing bees are instinctual or in fact plan their behavior then good
for them but it takes us no closer to understanding the mental processes of
the bees.
