This group is primarily concerned with honeybees, so you might have better 
results with one of the forums for other bee species, such as 
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/beemonitoring/  I think you'll have to 
sign up as a Yahoo member to access it, but it's free.

Another good place to identify insects is Bug Guide:  http://bugguide.net/
