The hive sounds like it maybe with the small hive beetle.  Honey dripping on
the ground from the hive.  They are fast and hard to find.  Dark areas hiding
and the size of a small lady bug.  Larvae's look like wax worms.  I monitor
and gather feudal hives outside the trees in Central Florida.  They will be
lost when put into hive boxes; mites, beetles, and weakened to lost.  Open
hive bottom and treat.                                          Michael
