The problem with Master Beekeeper is the title. Beekeeping is a trade not
an educational degree. So a Masters in Chemistry is nothing more than a
level of knowledge but not of proficiency while a Master in a trade
signifies that the person has mastered the trade.

Based on the proficiency of some Master Beekeepers I have seen, they have
done neither. It is a fairly watered down title.

However, if you look at the title "Master Gardner" here in Maine, it does
mean something as it is a demonstrated proficiency in both head knowledge
and practical application. You cannot get it in one day or even one week
but over a prolonged period of time. Plus, it does not end after you get
the title as it requires continuing commitment.
