Propolis, cocoons, and other material that accumulate in brood combs all cause a measurable but 
slight darkening of honey according to Coggshall and Morse. 

As mentioned earlier I’ve personally not noticed a difference, but I simply base that on what I’ve 
seen when uncapping frames. Samples of honey from old and new combs weren’t taken and 
tested.
