I've had several debates with Walt, on line and other. I agree with the
basic beekeeping facts that he presents in his manuscript, but only
facts we already know. I can't agree with how he uses those facts to
explain his idea of swarm biology and control. I say debate, but it
never is. He never answers questions. He only rallies the troops. The
fact that adding empty supers above a broodnest being back filled,
results in the nectar being removed from the broodnest and no swarm
indicates to me that the whole premise of the bees back filling the
broodnest with the intention of swarming falls apart. They weren't
thinking back fill the broodnest so we can swarm, they had no place to
put the nectar but the broodnest. And if that isn't wright then the
whole theory of back filling...repro-cut off dates...checkerboarding is
questionable.

I won't bother asking him to answer my questions anymore. It doesn't
really matter. I just feel sorry for the beekeeper in Elmira who was
supposed to reverse his bees in the middle of March...so he could fit
within the parameters of the repro-cut off date theory.

Middle of March is two weeks away. -10F tonight. Better warm up quick.
Beekeeping and frostbite is local.
Mike
