One more thing...Are there any more disadvantages other
then nurse bees producing royal jelly that shortens their
lives in a normal hive situation?

 I know that there are more that adds to this from the
varroa standpoint that has bearing on a hives survival, but
just normal hive duties now in healthy colonies, as most
wouldn't look at royal jelly making as a life shortening
occupation.
