It would be interesting to know what kind/race of bees they currently have.
Also, what kind of isolation they have from Varroa. Would love to see how
they do under pressure.

I have a major problem in that there are now several beekeepers in the area
so I will have Varroa around me for a while.

I am with you. Tried to minimize any treatments and tried one year to let
them survive on small cell, but that is the only year I have ever lost all
my bees. Obviously I did it wrong, since that seems to be the standard
response even back in the days of FGMO.
