I have been re-using glass jars for over 15 years. I've never had a complaint. The health inspector told me he wanted me to use a bleach rinse (1/2 cup to 5 gal). I have never had a problem. I explained to him the way my dishwasher has a sani-rinse and a heat dry. He said that would be ok, and not to worry about the bleach. I am out of the business but still know a few small beekeepers that prefer to re-use glass to help keep the costs down.
As far as labels go-- I print my own up, they are Avery labels and will wash off in the sink prior to going into the dishwasher. And yes it can be a lot of work sometimes but I feel that it is worth it.
