found one where you do not have to trim the point...a messy job."

I've used both Testor and Uni-Posca.  Both do a nice job, but
the Uni-Posca is more reasonably priced, and the folks behind
the web-page I listed gave supurlative service (next day
mailing, searched to find best shipping, friendly
follow-through via email).

As far as trimming the tip, it's best done before you use the
pen!  Trim the tip while it is dry, brefore it has been
primed with the paint.
