You guys are asking some good questions.

Thanks Pete for the good definitions on tolerance and resistance--they jibe
perfectly with mine.

Re Bill G's question on swarming, not necessary for mite resistance at the
number of fertile females per foundress, according to the results of my
model.

Re Bill H on reduced fertility, their study does not suggest behavioral
traits in the adult bees, but perhaps in the propupae or pupae.  But more
likely, IMHO, due to kairomonal battling.  This hypothesis was put forward
by Dr Denis Anderson several years ago, and has always resonated with me.
I strongly suspect that he nailed it.
