But when the mites are resistant to all strips, the comparison is no longer
valid and Dr James treatment may be cheap at any price. The alternative,
the loss of the bees will always cost more than any treatment in my opinion.

Here in Ireland we have faithfully (and in my opinion mistakenly),
followed in the footsteps of the synthetic chemical afficianados and we
will shortly pay the price. Resistance to Bayvarol (Apistan) is now just
around the corner. Resistance is now spreading in the UK right next door to
us. I can see us having to use Coumaphos in the not too distant future.
What a prospect?

And I would like to take this opportunity to wish Dr James all the best in
his endeavours to control this mite without the synthetic chemicals.Surely
it is much better to light a candle than to curse the darkness?

Sincerely
Tom Barrett
