In Belgium, we use Thymovar or Api Life Var for control in July and August,
these are the only legally authorized products at that time. In winter, we
apply di-hydrate oxalic acid but the approval of a veterinarian is required.
We hope that an Italian product, Api-Bioxal, will soon be approved in our
country (for more information, see:
http://www.chemicalslaif.it/page/02_prod_gruppi.asp). This is already
possible in Ireland. Biotechnical methods are used in spring.
I have to say that other rules apply in other European countries, see:
http://www.vmd.defra.gov.uk/public/bee_europe.aspx.

Kind regards,

Ghislain De Roeck,
