hybrid honey bees, due to the number of importations of various races back
in the day.  It requires jumping through a lot of hoops to bring in new
bloodlines (as Sue Cobey has been doing).

The large queen producers don't graft from trash--they run profitable
operations with their own bees, and select from what they consider to be
"outstanding" colonies.
