The release is saying that the yellow-legged hornet (Vespa velutina) nests can get as large as 6000 insects, where the northern giant hornet (Vespa mandarinia - formerly called Asian giant hornet - "murder hornet") only has nests of 300 insects (https://extension.umd.edu/resource/northern-giant-hornet), and the European hornets (Vespa crabro) only build nests of 200 to 400 insects (https://extension.umd.edu/resource/european-hornets). The yellow-legged hornets could be significantly worse as predators with that nest size if they get established.
I just dealt with European hornets swooping in and carrying off bees while I was removing a colony from a fallen tree. The thought of hornet colonies 20 times that size would be horrible.
