We call Tilia "Lime" and also find it to be unreliable.
The open bell-shaped flowers hang down, so are resistant to rain, but hot dry weather causes the nectar to dry up, usually by mid-morning - and when that happens bees can get a bit grumpy!
However, warm humid conditions with light winds can give a huge flow.
The honey tends to lack viscosity (it was always said that you will never win prizes at honey shows with Lime honey) and when pure has a distinct minty taste and greenish hue.
Birmingham is noted for Lime honey as so many streets are lined with Lime trees that are fully grown - perhaps 100 years old?
Hated by motorists due to the sticky deposits that rain down!
Best wishes
