I would suggest that maybe, just maybe, one of those wacko ideas out of those presented might have some merit and thus consideration of investigation. Some important discoveries have been a result of a "wacko" idea or a mistake made in the investigation or experiment.

To quote my extremely geeky father in law (he on occasions humbly mention he started out working in Oppenheimer's lab extracting U235) that some pretty 'out there' ideas are called impossible until some smart guy proves that the impossible is possible. In his own field of study (high energy physics) in his early years of study matter could not be created nor destroyed. By the time he was 20 he knew that basic idea of physics was not exactly true.
