Very interesting article, Pete, especially since it's about EFB in
California back in 1940, and the recent recurrence seems so similar. There
was an additional sentence in the article that I found to be of great
interest:
"After all, Dr. G. F. White proved many years ago that combs heavily
infected with E.F.B. could be placed in a clean colony with no danger of
further infection."
I failed at attempting to find a citation for that study. It's not
mentioned in White's USDA circular 157, in which he drew detailed
illustrations of diseased larvae.
