"I'm not sure, but if you refer to the crops on which the 266,000 lbs of imidacloprid was applied in California in 2010, it appears that quite a bit would be foliar application--see http://www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/pur/pur10rep/chmrpt10.pdf"
This source (Johnson, et al, 2010 "Pesticides and honey bee toxicity – USA" Apidologie, 41 (2010) 312–331) cites that "One neonicotinoid, imidacloprid, was applied to 788 254 acres in California in 2005 (CDPR, 2006), making it the 6th most commonly used insecticide in a state that grows many bee-pollinated crops."
How does poundage relate to acreage of application?
Has the use of IMI declined since 2005?
Thanks,
Christina
