Eggs in queen cups
Winston's Biology of the Honey Bee, p.182 says, quote Most of the eggs
in queen cups are laid by the queen, but workers can and do move a small
number of fertilised eggs or very young larvae from worker cells into
cups (Butler 1957a; Winston 1979b; Punnett and Winston 1983). end quote.
Sound pretty convincing, but I havent looked at these original papers.
