I had an inquiry from a physician today about a mom who is breastfeeding her 12 month old and has had "red hot, inflammed axillary lymph nodes for the past 6 weeks." The history here is: 33 year old Mom has had inflammation of her axillary lymph nodes since her milk came in a year ago, at first the lymph nodes were quite large but after her initial fullness went away the inflammation subsided somewhat. Six weeks ago she noticed under one arm only that the nodes were more inflammed and were burning. She was put on zithromax and the redness and burning went away but returned the day after she finished the antibiotic. She describes the inflammed area as "several balls in a chain." She states that it does not feel like mastitis, which she has had before and her breasts are unchanged. She has had blood work done and a mammogram and everything looks normal thus far. I checked the archives and came up with some thoughts about antiperspirants and underwire bras. I will ask her about these, but wanted to see if you all had anymore ideas!
