Not terribly related, but a work of Hindemith's that's quickly becoming a favorite of mine is his second string trio (though I only know it in the recording on Gasparo *ducks*). Other works of chamber music, his symphony in E-flat, his violin and cello concerti (from the WW2 era that is, not the others if only because I don't know them well enough) come to mind as other considerable favorites. And also on that Gasparo CD with the 2nd string trio the pieces for bassoon and cello are very much a treat. -Eric Schissel
