Don Satz surmised: >Does Idomeneo generate much hoop-la? In terms of popularity, I've thought >that Cosi, Magic Flute, Figaro, and Don Giovanni were the biggies, and >that his others were well-known only by major Mozart fans. I don't think I qualify as a major Mozart fan - maybe sergeant or corporal - but I think Seraglio is up there with the others in terms of popularity, or perhaps I'm being a little subjective. I've only heard Idomeneo once or twice and although it has some highly attractive music, I think it's probably too serious in tone to ever be as popular. Richard Pennycuick [log in to unmask]
