Robert Lyman plys the List:

>I have been searching for a while now, with no luck. Can anyone recommend
>a good CD of Schoenberg's Violin concerto?

I can only tell you what I've kept, and why -- not what's currently "out
there."

 [1] Amoyal/LSO/Boulez [coupled with the
      Piano Concerto [P. Serkin/LSO/Boulez] Erato ECD 88175 [1986].
Boulez's reputed analytical bent notwithstanding, this is a
distinctly Romantic account. The performance of the Piano Concerto
is even more markedly observant of musical ancestries. Decent sound.

 [2] Krasner/Bayerische Rundfucks/Mitropoulos
Broadcast of 07/09/1954. Coupled with dire inappropriateness with
      Prokofiev's 5th Sym, on the same program. ORFEO C204 891A [1989].
Louis Krasner's tone is stark, his approach restrained nearly to a
fault. This broadcast tape sounds at least as good as the commercial
recording made by Krasner for Columbia Records around the same time.

Hope this helps....
