The "approved" answer to this question is often presented as, "No, bf should never hurt." But I think that this kind of painful letdown is not so rare -- heaven knows I had it with both kids for at least 6 weeks, and other longer-term bfers I know have said the same, enough so that I did not believe that I was a fluke. So my question for the many of your with vastly more mom/baby experience than I have, is, what questions exactly do you ask, in an initial interview, to elicit information that will tell you why it "hurts like this"? Or do you just not know until you want them feed?
