The thing that bothers me is that apparently they originally told
Gorecki that they wanted 50 minutes.  After all, Gorecki didn't pull the
fifty-minute figure from the air.  I'm sure it would have been easier to
write a 35-minute piece from scratch than a 50-minute one.
