Hrm. Well, as to solo performances by Richter- I'm not even sure I've heard any. But he was - imho - wonderful in ensemble work- a great Brahms piano quartet 2 with the Borodin quartet on Philips, a wonderful Britten piano concerto conducted by the composer... (I know he recorded a .lot. of music solo, I just haven't heard it yet. When I do, the first two Brahms sonatas are priority...) Oh wait- I think I .have. heard his Pyramid CD recording (ok, I know he didn't record it .for. that label) of Miaskovski's 3rd piano sonata- which I thought was quite good. As to Lipatti, his recording of Enescu's "3rd" piano sonata is quite something, isn't it? Eric Schissel [log in to unmask] http://www.lightlink.com/schissel ICQ#7279016
