Personally, I already consider him a major conductor. Welser-Most has reaped some outstanding reviews of his discography; three that stand out in my mind are his Bruckner 5th symphony, Schmidt's Book of Seven Seals, and one of Schmidt's symphonies. I understand that Welser-Most has had some "people" problems in his conducting appointments. That tag could hamper his future, but he's young enough to easily make the applicable corrections.
