I'm in agreement with Patricia Gima and her experience with stomach flu and breastfeeding infants. My own experience was the same: I nursed when ever the baby wanted and mopped up the vomiting afterward. With all situations like this my infant's recovered much quicker than the rest of us. Many times only vomited a few times at most (and were usually better after 4-6-8 hours) when all others in the family were vomiting for 24 hours or so. Breastmilk is more comforting than ORTs (pediolyte). It is so hard to "fight" (keep) a baby away from the breast when he or she is sick. Mary Caldwell, IBCLC and mother of five -- breastfed all.
