Dear Darlene, If the baby is doing fine, what is the doctor's concern? We have had many posts on this over the years and have had reports of up to two years old being the time when solids were started. The only concerns I have about late initiation of solids is when it is because the parents are denying access to solids by the child at an appropriate age (unless, of course, there is some unusual medical condition that would warrant keeping the child on breastmilk only for an extended period of time.) If the child is being offered solids and just isn't interested yet, I wouldn't be worried. As long as access is maintained, at some point the baby/toddler will get interested and begin the process. Warmly, Sharon Knorr, BSMT, LLLL, IBCLC in Newark, New York (near Rochester) mailto:[log in to unmask] ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
