Deryk Barker writes >Furtwaengler, Horenstein, Schuricht, Jochum (both Georg and Eugen), >Asahina, Eichhorn, Abendroth, Kabasta, Haitink. All of these say more >to me about Bruckner than Karajan. Permit me to add Celibidache to that list--way up front. Except perhaps for Eugen Jochum, there's not a one to surpass Celi for the whole cycle of symphonies (though Horenstein excels on a couple of them). Incidentally, a cycle of Brahms symphonies by Celi has just hit the market in Germany under the EMI label. Superb! Denis Fodor Internet:[log in to unmask]
