Don Satz writes to answer Mark Seeley concerning Barbara Bonney:

>Barbara Bonney was on the cover of Gramophone a few months ago and has
>been reaping much public acclaim in recent years. I think she's married
>to another classical vocalist, but he doesn't count.

Oh, come now. You are undoubtedly speaking of Haken Hagegaard, who most
certainly does count, but to whom she is no longer married.

>Bonney has recorded some Mozart operas, just had released a cameo disc of
>Mozart arias, and recently had a recording devoted to American composers.

Her Rosenkavakier with Anne Sophie von Otter and Felicity Lott ain't
exactly chopped liver either.

>Bonney is relatively young, blonde, and would generally be considered
>attractive . . .

She is an American who has made a wonderful reputation in Europe, where
(obviously unlike here - nothing like being a prophet without honor in
one's own land) she is very highly regarded. Rather like Upshaw, she is
considered, in addition to being attractive, a real class act.
