I heard of a case in Pennsylvania in which a nursing infant
suffocated at mom's breast while nursing; mom had extremely large
breasts and fell asleep while feeding baby. A colleague shared this
story, as it was her patient, and it was within the last six months.

Unrelated to this case, when my aunt was an Assistant District
Attorney here in Georgia she served on a Governor's Task Force to
look into infant deaths. The task force found that most of the cases
of infant suffocations that occurred while babies and parents were
co-sleeping involved drugs and/or alcohol or abuse/neglect.
