Just had to share this anecdote from today. I always nurse my 9 month old at day care when I pick him up. Today the infant and toddler class were combined at the end of the day as most kids are picked up early on Friday. While I was sitting down nursing, one of a toddlers wandered by looking puzzled, he asked me "bottle?" I said no Josh is eating. Then another toddler passed by. She asked me "what's that?" I said "boobie." She was absolutely delighted with her new word "boobie." Her teachers also thought it was a real hoot (they are very supportive and try not to feed Josh near to pickup time). Many of the children in this setting have not been breastfed. What a great opportunity to show them this is how babies are naturally fed. I'm glad I have the opportunity to nurse in my daycare setting. Seems to be the most reasonable thing to do. Besides it is also a great teaching tool:-)! Pierrette Mimi Poinsett MD FAAP Modesto CA
