This is really really really important! I got this e-mail from ABC News 20/20 this morning. I spoke to Ms. Hirsh, who is researching this piece. She asked me to put the word out that she is looking for moms who are currently breastfeeding 3+ year-old children. She has already spoken to some "experts" (pediatricians, I think) who have told her that this is not a widespread phenomenon, but she suspects that there is a lot of closet nursing going on. Please call her number (she will call you right back), or email her if you are interested in being involved in this story. Please forward this message to Parent-L, RadMamas, TLC, and any other attachment-parenting/extended breastfeeding lists you think will contact other moms for her to interview. I already gave her contact information for Kathy Dettwyler (for anthropological perspectives) and Liz Baldwin (for legal issues) Rachael Hamlet The Breastfeeding Advocacy Page http://www.clark.net/pub/activist/bfpage/bfpage.html ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- From: [log in to unmask] (HIRSHS) Date: Wed, 13 Aug 1997 10:08 EST To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Breastfeeding a child 3 years or older My name is Stefanie Hirsh and I work at ABC News 20/20. I'm looking for information and for women who breastfeed their children when they are 3, 4, and 5 years of age. Could you possibly help me? My phone number is 212-456-6165. I'd be happy to call you back so you don't have to pay for the call, or you can call me collect. Thanks for you help, Stefanie
