Just scrolling along and wanted to voice my humble opinion: ~ I love the phrase 'detachment parenting and the "chemical feast"' (Patricia Gima) Sounds like an off-Broadway play about the downward spiral of our modern society... ~on caffeine : "caffeine is the only drug that is widely added to the food supply...is a mildly addictive drug, and parents might wish to limit their children's consumption of it" Turn the addiction to the parents who are "addicted" to the need for it, and it's easy to substitute "formula" for "caffeine", (as per Dr. Jack's comment that AIM should be considered a drug, "Breastfeeding Abstracts" article May 1997,but I just got my issue) ~BF booth . One way to encourage public nursing, but allow for individual needs for privacy would be to have several baby slings at the booth which moms can be helped to "nurse under" for privacy if they wish. Easier to carry around a sling than a screen at the Mall... ~men lactating: As per Debi Page Ferrarello's comment that if we can get men to lactate, why not the same for women?! This is a sign of a confused society that researchers spend time and energy pondering how to help men lactate while US moms still lament, and professionals still tell them, that THEY cannot .
